Fanless 750W AC-DC power supplies support quiet, reliable operation in BF-rated medical equipment

XP Power introduces the UCH750 series of 750W convection-cooled AC-DC power supplies for noise-sensitive medical and industrial equipment. The compact, chassis-mount series is one of the few fanless medical power supplies available at this power level.

Demand for quiet operation is growing in medical imaging, patient monitoring and treatment equipment, diagnostic instruments and home healthcare devices. Removing the fan eliminates fan noise and a component that can wear out, helping equipment designers reduce maintenance requirements.

The UCH750 also addresses the increasing use of BF-rated medical equipment in hospital environments, where patient protection and low leakage current are essential design considerations.

The series achieves up to 96% efficiency, reducing conversion losses and the heat that must be managed within the equipment. Each supply measures 203.2 x 127.0 x 40.0mm.

For medical designs, the UCH750 provides 2 x MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) isolation between input and output. Patient leakage current is 100µA maximum at 264VAC/60Hz. The series has a CB report to IEC60601-1 for medical equipment, alongside UL and TÜV safety approvals. Together, these characteristics help designers integrate the UCH750 into BF-rated medical equipment.

The UCH750 is available in both Class I and Class II versions, with Class II providing enhanced safety for medical and home healthcare equipment, including dialysis machines. The series also features IEC62368-1 safety approvals, simplifying certification for information technology and industrial equipment.

The series meets EN55032 Class B limits for conducted and radiated emissions. Remote on/off allows control of the main output, while a 5VDC/2A standby output can power control circuitry when that output is switched off. Built-in protection covers overload, short circuit, overvoltage and overtemperature conditions.

Five models offer nominal outputs of 12VDC, 24VDC, 36VDC, 48VDC and 54VDC from a 90 to 264VAC input. Full 750W output is available from 100VAC at ambient temperatures up to +50°C.

Beyond healthcare, the UCH750 also suits test and measurement systems, factory automation, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and telecommunications infrastructure where quiet operation, high efficiency and uptime matter.

The UCH750 series is available from Avnet Abacus, DigiKey, Farnell, Mouser, RS, TME, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power, with a three-year warranty.
