IFAT 2018: Sustainable solutions for waste and raw materials management

A range of solutions including the world’s first Ex-rated PMSM geared motor will be presented by Bauer Gear Motor

IFAT 2018, the world’s leading fair for or waste and raw materials management, will take place at Munich’s exhibition centre from 14th-18th May.

There, Altra Industrial Motion, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial power transmission components, will showcase its broad range of long-lasting, reliable and sustainable solutions for waste and raw materials management applications.

Bauer Gear Motor will present its range of solutions for hard-wearing and waterlogged conditions.

Bibby Turboflex will present its grid and gear couplings for high torque applications

For example, thanks to the WIMES (Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications) compliant coating developed to support the IP68 rating, Bauer can offer submersible geared motors for water and wastewater treatment plants.

TB Woods will showcase its Sure-Flex Plus and Dura-Flex couplings during the show

Of interest to visitors will be the live demo of an IP68 submersible geared motor running in a water tank.

Also on display will be the Bauer IE4 energy efficient geared motor solution, including the world’s first Ex-rated PMSM geared motor developed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

This offers up to 40% energy savings under partial load conditions, compared to standard asynchronous motors.

Bauer’s Industry 4.0 solution for rapid electronic torque measurement, TorqueControl4.0, will also be showcased.

TorqueControl4.0 enables a geared motor to be integrated into the process control infrastructure, protecting the powertrain from overloading.

Optimise energy consumption

Further functionalities are included, such as adaptive load control to optimise energy consumption of standard mains-powered motors.

The solution features IP65 protection and operates reliably even under unfavourable conditions.

Bibby Turboflex and TB Woods, specialists in industrial couplings, will promote their solutions for challenging working environments.

More specifically, Bibby Turboflex will present its grid and gear couplings for high torque applications.

Among these, the innovative Torque Limiter range of safety couplings will be showcased. This is widely adopted within the wastewater treatment industry due to its suitability for corrosive environments.

The highlight of TB Woods will be its Sure-Flex Plus and Dura-Flex couplings. These are designed to effectively absorb different types of shock and misalignment and are therefore suitable for applications with frequent vibrations and misalignments.
